"Edimental" is a word coined by Stephen Barstow (whose book, "Around the World in 80 Plants" is one of my absolute favourites.) It is a portmanteau of edible and ornamental, and has started to appear in all the gardening and lifestyle magazines. My impression is that it's mostly used in relation to ornamental plants that happen to be edible, as many are. But I think that many edible plants are also exceptionally ornamental, but their beauty is not always noticed. Squash plants, for example, are gorgeous to look at.
